Doodle Wheels: which wheel beats which obstacle

In Doodle Wheels the car drives itself. Your only job is to give it the right wheels at the right moment, either by tapping one of the four presets or by drawing a shape on the pad. Every obstacle punishes one kind of wheel and rewards another, so the whole game is reading the track ahead and swapping in time. The game slows down while you draw, so you always have a moment to think.

The obstacles and their answers

ObstacleWhat happens with the wrong wheelBest wheel
Flat ground and hillsNothing bad, but bumpy wheels are slow and shaky.Circle — fastest and smoothest.
StairsA round wheel hits the first step and spins in place.Square — the corners hook each step and walk the car up.
BumpsCircles bounce and lose speed; the car can tip on landing.⚪ Circle at a steady pace, or a large drawn wheel that spans two bumps.
MudSmooth wheels spin without grip and the car crawls to a stop.Star — the points dig in. Any spiky drawing works too.
SpikesSmall wheels get punctured and the run ends.A big wheel: draw a circle that fills the whole pad. Only wheels above a certain size survive.
WaterThe car floats and drifts, but never reaches the far bank.Paddle — the blades push water like a paddle steamer. Stars also paddle a little.

Reading the track

The camera shows a good distance ahead of the car, and each obstacle has a distinct look: stairs are stepped ledges, mud is the dark brown strip, spikes are the grey steel teeth, and water is the blue pool. Swap wheels about a car length before the obstacle, not on it. Swapping mid-obstacle is allowed but the new wheel spawns in place, so a square appearing halfway up a staircase can catch a step at an awkward angle.

Order of priority when two obstacles are close together: water first (a wrong wheel there means going back to the checkpoint), then spikes, then stairs, then mud. Hills and bumps are survivable with anything.

Drawing wheels that work

Leaning, checkpoints and stars

Hold the left or right half of the screen (or the arrow keys) to lean the car. Lean back when the nose dips going over a crest, and lean forward when the car wheelies up a slope. If the car lands upside down it usually rights itself; if it stays flipped for a couple of seconds the run restarts from the last checkpoint. Checkpoints are frequent, so a mistake costs seconds, not the whole level.

Each level awards up to three stars based on time. A clean run with the right wheel for every obstacle and no checkpoint restarts is what earns the third star. If a level has you stuck, the "skip level" option appears after a few attempts.

Racing friends

From the main menu choose Race friends. One player creates a room and shares the four-letter code or the invite link; up to five others join. The host picks Short, Medium or Long and starts a three-second countdown. Everyone races the same track, sees the other cars as ghosts with name tags, and a standings panel shows who is ahead. If you crash you respawn at the last checkpoint after a second, so a mistake costs time, not the race. The results screen ranks everyone by finish time, and the host can start a rematch on a fresh track with one tap.

For a longer contest the host sets Rounds in the lobby: 3, 5, or one per player. Every round is a new track, finishing places score 10, 7, 5, 3, 2 and 1 points, the results screen shows the running table after each round, and the last round ends with a podium for first, second and third.

Tips for winning: swap wheels a car length early, keep the circle for the flat stretches because it is the fastest, and lean forward on the way up stairs so the square wheels bite.
